Packington Memorial Hall

Contract signed for major building work

At last, after 5 years of fund raising villagers in Packington can now look forward to their brand new Village Hall. Over £65,000 has been raised from local events, culminating in a "Buy a Brick" scheme which has seen nearly 300 named bricks being sold to local residents. Grants have also been received from the Big Lottery Fund, Leicestershire County Council, U.K. Coal, The National Forest and Packington Parish Council and finance is now in place to enable building work to proceed.

The contract for the renovation of the Hall was won by J A Ball New Homes & Quality Builders Ltd, and was signed on Wednesday 20th May at the Memorial Hall, High Street, Packington.

Chairman of the Management Committee, Chris Miles, said "Planning for this project started 10 years ago. It will be great for the village to finally have a 21st Century Building they can be proud of. We are now all looking forward to the grand reopening in approximately 6 months time.
